Problem with external-graphic: Unsupported color conversion reque st

I use this code to embed a graphic file in my RTF:

<fo:external-graphic height="40pt"
src="D:\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1\webapps\cocoon\mount\AigleK\images\ecusson.jpg"
/>
</fo:block>
The file is displayed, but it's all black. I found that the sample graphics
aren't working either, so maybe this is linked?
Here's the error I get:
