Line-breaks in text blocks

I'm generating a file from a db, and in one field, which is a very large
text-field, the line-breaks are stored in the db, e.g. the character
'&#13;'. For the generation of my PDF, I had to translate this character
into '&#x2028;', this worked fine and the text gets displayed correctly. In
my RTF, neither  '&#13;' nor '&#x2028;' produces a line-break. Does anybody
know what control character I need here?
