RE: SVG Diagrams in RTF documents

Batik could indeed be used to rasterize the diagram (in jpeg format by
example).
But to keep optimal quality, a vector format would be preferable.

As no common vector format is supported by both RTF and batik, the only
remaining solution is to insert the SVGViewer as an OLE or OCX object.
RTF support it (with tags \objemb or \embocx), but requires the SVGViewer
component to be serialized in hexadecimal format (OLESaveToStream format).

Does anybody have tried this ?

To implement this you would have to extend the 
/org/jfor/jfor/rtflib/rtfdoc/RtfExternalGraphic class to convert SVG to a 
format supported by RTF.

Most probably, the batik toolkit (http://xml.apache.org/batik/) could be
used 
for this.
