Hi Martin, Actually, I am a relative newcomer to the idea of literate programming. I am speaking with my relatively scarce experience using CWEB within MS-Dev Studio. I always found it awkward to code all text in TeX and not have a WYSIWIG editor. In the back of my mind, I thought there could be a way to integrate more visual artifacts in a system like CWEB and then I got to know about literate modelling. The sort of stuff we were programming involved a lot of mathematical equations and, again, I thought that an XML equivalent to CWEB could probably be used to generate a scientific artifact closely linked to the code. I figured if I could code MathML equations (later to be formatted appropriately in an online help system, or on the Web, or FOPped out to a PDF ...) in a literate program or an SVG diagram or what not, that could be the basis for generating accompanying scientific artifacts. The ability to link components such as a MathML equation with an element in a UML diagram would tie in the "business logic" (in this case, the "science" behind) with the programmed system and that link is very important to system developers and users. I could see a help system generating fractions of artifacts on demand. Anyhow, I don't know if o:XML could potentially be an all-encompassing vector for all that ML info and this is why I'm throwing my ideas in the fishbowl! All the best, Yves Moisan
