[ http://tldp.org/HOWTO/XML-RPC-HOWTO/xmlrpc-howto-php.html ] When you grab that script(1) it will give you a good idea about how to use it. There is also a debugger included so you can test existing web services. I used the debugger to test the freshbooks api, you can create a free account there [ http://developers.freshbooks.com/ ]. I'm sure there are a number of other services out there; just be 'kind' to the server and do not send to many requests on one sitting. Many php based blogging software have xmlrpc support so you can also install wordpress on your local machine for example, and test on that to see how they do it.
