Can I Parse String with SAX, instead of a file?

Hi! I was wondering I can parse a String with SAX, all that I can figure out to pass into the parser is a File object. I'm getting data streamed over the internet and would like to parse it as is, as oppossed to writing it to a file, then parsing it. If anyone could help me out with this, that would be greatly appreciated!
