SaxParser

Hello,
 
I am having problem with compiling with SDK1.3, but using SDK1.4
compiles and runs fine.  Could you please verify if I can use the parser
with 1.3, if so need advise on setting it up.
  
here is the error message;
 
Error #: 300 : method parse(java.io.InputStream,
org.xml.sax.helpers.DefaultHandler) not found in class
javax.xml.parsers.SAXParser at line 42, column 23
