James Clark releases new implementation of Schematron as part of Jing

James Clark has implemented a version of Schematron as part of Jing.

With this, Jing is getting very close to what ISO DSDL is standardizing:
  - a general purpose framework allowing modularity
    - a language for selecting sections of documents according to namespace and context
       and sending these to different validators (NRL, now the main contender for ISO DSDLs'
         Validation Candidate Selection Language)
         - RELAX NG with different datatypes possibles
               - WXS built-in datatypes
         - Schematron 1.5 (with 1.6-style keys)

James' implementation seems to have a several nice features, such as detecting cycles of 
rules extending other rules.   He sets up the validition in Java, then uses SAXON or
Xalan to perform the validation.  He seems to have some trick to allow instant death
when the first error is found; I expect this is a user option.   He has made his own
XSLT meta-stylesheet as well: he validates the Schematron schema using a RELAX NG 
(consise syntax) schema, which means he can take most of the validation out of the 
stylesheet.  It looks like he has implemented the assert/@subject attribute attribute
properly too: so that you can use it to specify the location of the assertion in diagnostics
etc with a little more precision than rule/@context might provide.
