Revisited question: XML Schema flattener in Java/XSLT?

I have been looking in the archives for this, because I remember both
Francis Norton and Anthony Coates have done things in this area,
but to no avail.

Can anyone point me to an XSLT stylesheet (or java code) to
resolve an XML Schema; resolve import, include, redefine?,
abstract elements, substitution groups, etc. ? 

Even a tool to convert XML Schemas to DTDs or RELAX
NG, which could then be fed through Trang...  (Trang doesn't
directly import XML Schemas).
