Report on ISO Schematron progress

There was an ISO JTC1/SC34 Document Processing and Description Languages 
committee meeting in snowy Philadelphia last week.  Various ISO DSDL 
(Document Schema Description Languages) parts were discussed.

I presented the next draft of ISO Schematron, which I hope to have 
typeset and online this week.

Here are the changes that are on the cards: comments welcome:--

1) Change namespaces to something more permanent?
2) Select query language using URL not simple token
3) Replace <key> element with declarations section
    <declarations><xslt:key ..../></declarations>
  because key is an XSLT-ism, and we want to be query-language independent
4) Add a "flag" (or "state") action to assertions, so that if an 
assertion fails,
  a particular boolean flag is set to true. This provides something for 
actions
  to hook into. This was thought better than jhaving some kind of "action"
  element or attribute, because there is no need for 
script-language-intrusions.
5) Define a standard output format, like ZVON or the Screamatron formats.

Also, we need to double check patents and IPR: if someone has the URL of
the XLinkIt patent for example, that would be useful to make sure we do
the right thing by Western IPR law.
