Hi David, You run the SMIL in a canvas, and capture the canvas at preferred intervals. I can provide more details if you would like. I found the method (converting SVG to canvas) from a paper presented at a SVG conference several years ago. You get a series of PNGs but maybe canvas will do GIFs. Then you have to convert the GIFs into an animated GIF. We do all of this except in the last step we convert PNGs to video.
