I've tried refactoring Xalan code today few times, within dev repos branch xalan-j_xslt3.0_mvn, to have Xalan's both XSLT 3.0 and 1.0 processors in this branch, but my attempts failed.
This may take time to complete. In the meantime, I'll keep trying to improve Xalan's XSLT 3.0 code further, unless a new Xalan release is called for in between.
