Remind me where does the source for the front page live?

Looking at the doc/html/index.html in the archive I assume this is
the addition:

"PLEASE NOTE: Xerces-C++ lacks maintainers and is in a largely legacy
 state. We do not recommend its adoption by new projects, and encourage
 those still using it to explore alternatives."

If so, I would be against this wording. As I believe was clearly
demonstrated by the discussion in this thread, there are no suitable
alternatives for some functionality provided by Xerces-C++, specifically,
mature, battle-tested XML Schema support.

I would be Ok with the following statement of facts (rather than telling
people what they should and should not do):

"Please note that the Xerces-C++ project currently lacks active maintainers
and therefore may not be able to promptly address bugs and security 
vulnerabilities."

FWIW, we have a commercial product based on Xerces-C++ and if any of its
users report bugs in Xerces-C++, we will work on fixing them.
