rh7.3 xml::xerces

I'm still having no luck getting xml::xerces going on redhat 7.3. Has anyone
actually made 2.3.0 work on 7.3? Can I get a copy of Xerces.so if you have?

Otherwise, what's the last version of xerces-p that DID work on 7.3?

Again, libc-2.2.5, gcc-3.0.4, perl-5.8.0. Already tried everything I could find in
the archive, including rebuilding Perl. I've gotten it to build on Debian 3
and on redhat 8, but unfortunately I need it to work on the shared installation we've
got exported to a bunch of scientific machines that are all on 7.3 and aren't in any
position to get upgraded just yet.

For those who will ask, I'm currently getting:
t/actualCast..............Can't load '/root/XML-Xerces-2.3.0-4/blib/arch/auto/XML/Xerces/Xerces.so' for module XML::Xerces: /root/XML-Xerces-2.3.0-4/blib/arch/auto/XML/Xerces/Xerces.so: undefined symbol: _ZN11xercesc_2_36XMLUni23fgIBM1140EncodingStringE at /cluster/lsfpool/perl/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i686-linux-thread-multi-ld/DynaLoader.pm line 229.
