We do that all the time without *any* problem. See for example:

(The source documents are DocBook. We used the stock DocBook XSL 
stylesheets to generate the .docx files).

Sorry but I don't understand what is your problem. Please take the time 
to file a *formal* bug report.

Note that v4.4.1 is a quite old version (September 23, 2010). We must be 
able to reproduce the problem using latest XFC release. You are welcome 
to download our Evaluation Edition for that:
