OK. This is a task for the presentation layer. With the oncoming new parameter (xsl) it is possible to define your own presentation. Maybe this helps for you, but, I accept, It could be nice to do this with a simple boolean argument. But what about all those cross references? Should they also hide the type relations? Should the documentation of a global complexType move to all element declarations that use this type? Could get a lot of work! Or should the type documentations remain where they are, but references are just removed from the overview pages?
