using xindice with other xquery engine

Hi,

I am new the Xindice. I have an idea to use Xindice as XML storage
management and use another xquery engine to query the xml data.
Basically, my idea is manage XML data in Xindice, but query XML data
in Xindice using another XQuery engine. I wonder whether Xindice
provides a interface (prefer java) to other application to query the
XML data in Xindice.

I have to do this way, since I need to use XQuery.
