Try this:

$XINDICE_HOME/bin/xindice lc -c xmldb:xindice://localhost:8080/db/mycollectionName

Other commands can be found but just running this command: $XINDICE_HOME/bin/xindice 

Amir I would recommend upgradng to 1.1b4 before doing to much more with 
xindice. The download can be found here: http://xml.apache.org/xindice/download.cgi
