Command tool with password protected database

All,

I have xindice deployed as a war file and need to create an index on it. 
I am using the commandline tool. I have my db url configured correctly. 
However my db is locked down to require a username and password to 
access it. If I use the comandline tool I get a 401 error. How can I 
provide a username and password to this tool?
