OK; I got the Gnome 2 Developer's Guide and am checking those libs out.

I'm thinking it might be better for me to spend some more time with the
source code, GLib, GObject, etc. before jumping into real coding. But
whatever you think is most useful can dictate, I guess. I saw your
replies to Peter Saint-Andre's offer for help recently - might some of those
tasks be good for starting? Has he tackled any of them?
I can give you more specifics about my current knowledge etc. if that would
be useful in pointing me at tasks.

Yup. Well I should have some time this weekend too; let me know if there's
