[PangoPDF] When to compile pangogp?

pangogp depends on libgnomeprint and on Pango.

libgnomeprint also depends on Pango (and on an amazing number of other
things).

You can compile PangoPDF after you've compiled libgnomeprint if you
already have vanilla Pango on your system, but that can lead to a
program using pangogp to have using libraries from two versions of
Pango.

It often seems to me to be the best approach is to make pangogp into a
separate compilation from the rest of PangoPDF, so you can compile
PangoPDF, patch the libgnomeprint configure.in to use PangoPDF instead
of vanilla Pango, compile libgnomeprint, then compile pangogp.

It's time to read the "GNU Autoconf, Automake, and Libtool" book
again, but does anybody have any suggestions while I'm doing that?
