Did you try to remove all this:

        <Transforms>
          <Transform Algorithm=3D"http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#envelop=
ed-signature" />
        </Transforms>

=66rom sign1-tmpl.xml and just set the URI of the Reference to your binary
file? That works for me for a random PNG input I tried.
