Thanks for your suggestions, however, I am still unclear how the
<fo:page-number> tag can use the page-sequence-master.
 
My confusion arrises, since in my document, there are 2 title pages in the
sequence. Can I reference the master-reference="first" several times, within
the scope of the "rest" page numbering ?
