The answer is very simple: you cannot.

The formatting process is arm's length from the transformation 
process.  There is *no* feedback loop.  You create your flow with enough 
contingencies for the the formatter to handle different situations (like 
keep-together, break, etc.).  There is *no* query of the current state of 
the formatter.
