basic install, best practice, question

Hi folks, I'm struggling to get myself up to speed on XSLT and eXSLT looks great, except I'm convincd I'm not implementing something properly. The <xsl:import ..> tags throughout the library use relative paths to files and these never seem to work. I'm constantly patching this to get transformations to work. This can't be right, can it? Can someone describe the best practice for creating the exslt lib on a web server (IIS)? I've tried unzipping in a folder as well as inside the web root, thinking that if only the files are correctly placed then everything will snap together. No luck so far. The implementation instructions on the 'How To' pages imply that I should be selectively picking files I like and moving them into a production folder for execution. "For example, to use the EXSLT - Functions implementation of math:min, copy it to the same directory as your stylesheet and use:" Squuze me? Doesn't that virtually gaurantee a maintenance headache, even if I DO collect the functions I want and move them around and change the URL's to files so things work? Wouldn't it make more sense to have a lib on the server that could be periodically updated when exslt is updated? Things are so masterfully thought through otherwise, that I figure the confusion must be my misunderstanding / overlooking something. Shouldn't I be able to create an EXSLT folder, unzip 'all' and carry on, calling what I need, and carrying on without massaging all the XSL files? In other words, I don't understand why it doesn't all work smoothly out of the box. What am I missing here? What's the best way to set up a lib containing all templates and functions? Thanks in advance.
