xalan:evaluate problem

i'm using xalan parser for compiling xsl into jar file. i'm gettting compiler error that evaluate function must be public . i'm not able to compile that file. that file has template which having xalan:evaluate function . current version of xalan parser not support the evaluate function .is there any alternate parser for compiling this xsl file? can u please let me know if there is any parser? otherwise please tell me how to solve this problem? this is important for us. i'm waiting for reply.
