Secondly, I think if something sucks, then telling people is useful, even if it may be uncomfortable for some. My impression of MARC right now is that if I ever need to deal with it I should expect pain and high cost, and I shouldn't be too certain that it will do what I want it to. That is very useful information. Having said that, I don't mean to imply that the MARC "apologists", if I can call them that, are doing any harm.
