Nice idea :-) But I quite agree with Patrick and Gabriel that the meaning of 'introducing' is not well defined; isn't it better to ask, who has been 'most influential' to your involvement and work with topic maps?

That's an interesting factual question. To make it more complicated, who
authored the material you were reading about topic maps? 

;-)

The test with an Erdős number is co-authorship of a paper, so that is
fairly well defined. 

I suspect the answer here is who do you consider as "introducing" you to
topic maps? Perhaps that should allow for more than one person.

The only difficulty then is if they don't have the same Newcomb number.

Since both Steve Pepper and Lars Marius both have a Newcomb number of 1,
that isn't an issue for your case. ;-)
