It would be trivial to define your own merge [...] I'd recommend <http://www.w3.org/2003/01/geo/> for the occurrence type (geo:lat, geo:long, where geo is bound to <http://www.w3.org/2003/01/geo/wgs84_pos#>). Although the the vocabulary defines also a combined property (geo:lat_long), it's usage is not recommended (by the creators of the voc.). I already use the geo:lat / geo:long properties as occurrence types in RDF to Topic Maps mappings.
