Topic Maps came from a work done inside a group called the
Davenport Group led by O'Reilly that eventually produced both
the Docbook DTD and Topic Maps. Steve was the lead in the subgroup
(called CApH -- Conventions for the Application of Hytime) and
I became a co-editor. When, after 3 years of brainstorming, Steve
and I invented the "topic map concept", I was the one who decided
to make it an ISO standard. Steve was not interested at that time,
so I started the work, and he accepted to re-join that group a couple
of years later.
