Agreed, but I think a Topic Maps benchmark would be more interesting
if it's based on a query language. Such a benchmark would be more fair
since the vendors know their engines very well and can optimize the
query evaluation against the internal mechanisms of their engines.
Something like the CXTM test suite for TMQL would be nice (and IMO
necessary) once we know what TMQL is about. The CXTM tests helped a
lot while I was working on CTM and I implemented a CTM parser and Lars
Marius implemented a CTM parser for Ontopia. They ease the
communication and they are implementation independent. I'd expect that
they would also help to have a common understanding of TMQL
(independently of the benchmark project).
