I understand - and support - your point of view.

However, the current situation is not good. Our
server keeps being inundated by thousands of
fake subscription attempts and it disrupts the
traffic. Many email list servers (based on mailman) are being
under similar attacks these days. We hope that a
fix will be found that will enable the situation
to improve and will preserve a choice between
social networks and discussion groups.

For the time being, we feel obliged to take the
painful decision to temporarily suspend email service
to and from the list.

The archive will still be
available at:

http://www.infoloom.com/pipermail/topicmapmail/

We are in a position to re-enable the list
in the future and attempt to resume its operation.
It is likely that attacks will resume as well, but
we can hope that a fix will be found.

What I propose for the time being is that the
discussion on topic maps get directed to the linkedin
topic maps group. (Look for "Topic Maps Community"
on LinkedIn).

I am rather anti facebook, Linkedin, twitter, Google, etc. big company
social networks. I hope a solution will be found that does not require
one to establish an account with these entities. Thanks.

Yes.., we now have recently a LinkedIn group but:
- what about the whole history of discussion on the mailing list?
- not every member on topicmapmail-Zo64W7twoUFWk0Htik3J/[email protected] is a member on the TM
linkedin group
- i think that a lot of persons still prefer to discuss some things on
mailing lists

I did not start the TM linkedin group to replace the topicmap mail group
and I hope that we still can have multiple channels to talk about Topic
Maps?
