If (as suggested by your example) you don't need to encode references (a
la XPATH), then you might also want to consider JSON, which is even
simpler (and more widely implemented) than YAML:

Subject: [Yaml-core] Hello, and congrats on this effort

Dear list members,

I just stumbled upon YAML when looking for a renderfarm solution for
Blender 3D - one of them used YAML as a format for scene data exchange.

What I found really funny when reading the examples of the YAML data
structure is that I *just* recently invented a data format of my own for
a
CMS I'm developing - and hell, it's VERY similar to Yaml - and I didn't
know
about it at all back then :)

Example of an ICMS configuration file:

number: 6000
created: 2007-02-11 07:11:49
title: Baustellenstatistik
published: yes

section: untitled
     created: 2007-02-11 07:24:39
     published: yes

     image: zeitstrahl1.png
         thumbnail height: 39
         thumbnail width: 200
         height: 147
         width: 753
         link:
         caption:
         invisible: yes

section: untitled1
     title: 2001
     created: 2007-02-11 07:12:05
     published: yes

section: untitled2
     title: 2002
     created: 2007-02-11 07:13:21
     published: yes

So, be assured - your effort is well worth it (especially considering
the
bloat XML brings with it...)

Cheers, looking forward to the further development and spread of YAML.
