The now current release of Ubuntu, 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) has pyyaml.  

Pyyaml was also accepted into Debian Sid yesterday (with the above recommended 
patches included).  It should be in Debian Testing within the next two weeks 
and in due course be included in 'Lenny' when it's released.
