Sponsorship

I've noticed that many other widely useful software technologies tend
to have corporate sponsors, sometimes even with in-house development
teams dedicated to the technologies further development. Why has YAML
never garnered such support? To me it seems like one of the best
candidates for such an endeavor -- It's an insanely useful technology,
it's has cross-platform capabilities, and the specification is pretty
much solid. A sponsored development group could do a lot of good --
they could help make sure the different implementations are
compatible, that missing implementation get built, and help drive
YAML's future.

This has come to my mind right now b/c I am having an issue were I am
generating some data with Ruby that I want to read back into a
Javascript program. But there is no full implementation of YAML for
Javascript, and there do not seem to be any good alternatives. I can't
use JSON b/c it lacks anchors and referencing. JSYNC is still too
immature and has even less in the way of implementation. So I feel
stuck and can't help but wonder why things should be in such a state
after so long.

Might this be something we could pursue?
