directives end

Is there a rule or rules for what may follow, on the same line, as the
directives-end?

Some examples for instance:

--- !<tag:clarkevans.com,2002:invoice>
--- >
--- |
--- # comment
--- !!str

Would it be the same as having it appear on the next line or is there some scoping rule (etc)?
