I'm sorry, forget I asked; looking at the Haskell YamlReference
package cleared this up.  I just didn't expect an EBNF grammar to
contain a production for "start of line".  If I'm making substitutions
to produce a string in a language, I can't produce "start of line."  I
can produce "end of line" of course but "start of line" is a parser
state, not a production.
