Hi All,

I'm writing a small download application using c/c++ on Linux. For HTTP I'm
using the libcurl library.

Now, I have few queries regarding the HTTP/HTTPS proxy setting on Linux.

1.	How can I fetch the HTTP/HTTPS proxy information in my c/c++
program? [I believe apart from the proxy server URL, port we store the
authentication mechanism user and even the user/password information can be
saved] One answer I already got from the forum is reading the environment
variable HTTP_PROXY/HTTPS_PROXY using getenv() call.
2.	Is the proxy information configured in Browsers or by using Desktop
environment tools [Genome Proxy Server Preferences Tool] are saved in same
file. If yes which file?
3.	The browser information is per user based while the information
configured using the desktop environment are global information applicable
to all user using that linux box. if yes in which files this information is
saved?

Any help or pointers will be appreciated!

Bhopal Singh
