Thank you very much for the reply. I am trying to get educated but not being
a programmer it is difficult to get an understanding about the advantages
and disadvantages of perl and java. Are there any books out there for the
non-technical person? =


As for the resources we are finding it very difficult to find mod perl
programmers. Everyone that applies at our office knows java and then they
have to learn perl. Do you know of any forms with perl programmers looking
for a work?

Making a company wide programming language policy is not a wise policy. You =

choose the language based on the work to be done.

It is unlikely that you will use Java for day to day scripting work on the =

shell or in cron jobs. On the other hand, in making applications Java is at =

least as much useful as Perl. Both can do more or less similar things, both =

have extensive libraries to fall back upon for missing functionalities. You =

should get a lot of Perl folks in the job front. Which lack of resources are

you talking about?
