OS related problem

I installed ubuntu 13.04 in my laptop(asus k55vj). It is having strong
heating while i use ubuntu, in the case of win8 it is working f9 , I tried
to install Linux mint also but it crashed after installing drivers. can you
suggest me any Linux based OS for my laptop, I will be really thankful.
