No wonder firefox beats everything in the world, but I'm worried for it being ported to Windows...or I simply hate its such action. Its not new though, open source software being ported to windows, but this has a definite side-effect on the open source community or the Linux community to be specific. Windows is never going to port anything to Linux, at least not in the near future. Giving people exciting applications (or whats best in this (open source) world) in the environment that they are used to (windows) is something that keeps them from migrating to an open platform and later thinking of actually contributing to it. MS would learn from this and is surely going to fight back with enhanced IE in longhorn. Then? People will again start using IE...but be on the same platform...Windows. Is open source designing its own downside by such ports??? Would seriously like to know you thoughts on this.
