Never tried this, but at the first thought this doesn't seem 
appropriate. "Auto-reducing" the dots is not you might always want. I 
couldn't recollect the address ([email protected]) so I send a mail to 
[email protected]. I expect it to bounce if the address is wrong. Now the 
intended receiver is [email protected] and not (my foe ;) [email protected]
