Al salam 3alaykum wa ra7mat Allah
If you all don't mind some thoughts about the fest, here is one:
- There could be a demo or a presentation that shows how visitors could substitute Windows with Linux for their everyday basic computing needs. These needs might include web surfing, sending emails, composing various types of productivity documents, listening to and watching online/offline audio and video streams, burning CDs, playing games, etc....
Such a demo would need a nice Intel desktop with a big monitor, have speakers, with a modem connection to the internet, and other peripherals too installed and configured if possible (scanner, digital camera, printer, etc...).
Software should include a Linux distribution that should either have a localized Arabic interface or at least fully supports Arabic. Applications should include an office productivity suite with full Arabic support, Internet programs (Arabic capable browser, popular chat and messaging programs, Arabic capable email client, etc..) , audio and video players, audio rippers and CD burner software packages, some nice 2D/3D Linux game if available, and so on.
Such a demo, if successful, would at least increase the popularity of Linux in Cairo, if nothing else.
