I don't know re MBRvs GPT (but I suspect the latter as /etc/fstab seems
to refer to GUIDs).
I'm pretty sure EFI. If I switch to legacy, I get a message:
Reboot and Select proper Boot device ...
Under UEFI I get
internal hard disk drive not found
with advice about re-seating. There is no problem accessing the drive
when booting from the rescue USB.
Could be I did something to the bios when setting up to boot from the
USB?
