A Sticky bit is a permission bit that is set on a file or a directory that 
lets only the owner of the file/directory or the root user to delete or 
rename the file. No other user is given privileges to delete the file 
created by some other user.

It sounds what I need but if I think the problem is all the users are split 
into groups and the directory in question has the same group membership. So 
- I may be wrong here - but it looks like if I am in the group I can delete 
the directory - and that is what happened.
