Might be worth sharing some more information on what the hardware 
actually is, and what your intended use case is (in a little more detail.)

If it's just going to be playing media, would you prefer it to not have 
a graphical interface at all, and just use a web browser to access and 
control it? Checkout https://www.daphile.com/ and 
http://www.pimusicbox.com/ if you'd like to consider the idea.
