Getting Dovecot On Ubuntu server & Working With TBird & RoundCube

I have been having a problem with getting dovecot to work with Thunderbird 
email client & RoundCube web mail client.

Is there any such thing as a Ubuntu/Linux consultant in the 
Limerick/Midwest region ?
