I might be wrong but I believe I am well to do. I am a linuxer and I
was a member of the list when taking a rickshaw was considered a
luxury. Basically no I donot think my social status has anything to do
with being part of the list.

Yes I could use the script - no I donot expect to read about it on this
list. A freshmeat or sourceforge entry would be expected not an
announcement on all the LI lists.

The french revolution was considered drastic I would expect something
simillar to happen to Linux to warrant a announcement on all the lists.

If you wish to discuss your code in context of Linux usage LIP might be
suitable. If you are suggesting the code as a solution to someone's
request it might be suitable for LIH. I dont know whether any peice of
code would be suitable for LIG announcement unless it has managed to
somehow test the constraints of the licensce.

Well I am sure it wont be too difficult to use a perl module under
activestate. You dont need a activestate distribution unless you have
released a binary module.

Bottom line announcements are fine even a few OT ones once in a while
if it has some relevance. But announcement on all LI lists without
marking it OT is getting a bit out of hand. Ofcourse these are all my
personal opinion maybe the list guru's would like to comment on this
matter ?
