It's not that they can't do anything, they don't *want* to do anything,
because the way they see it, The forums still provide them with
what they want and now give some more, it's just a bunch of ads there that
they'll probably ignore or find useful(like getting the hardware in india
without them having to deal with customs etc.)
If you really think it's "what can we do?" Go ahead and setup an alternate
forum, with clearly stated goals and objectives and promise to be 100%
commercial free.
All the content they put is still there on that site and accessible to all,
And as you pointed out the system in use is a standard one.
Setup another drupal site and have people move over, and populate your forum
with their old content from the other site, which is still copyright to the
users and not to Enterux, you might even be able to automate the scraping of
content with the users' permission.
And see how many people will follow you there.
