Yes especially with most of the medium range h/w almost everything
works out of box with distros like Ubuntu, PC Linux OS, Open SuSE and
Fedora. The only things I have seen creating "some issues" is
wide-screen, win-modems and some wireless chips (very rare case now)

Its because I think with the kind of legal agreement they have with M$
(and they get much cheaper windows OEM rights), they have to use these
words, only then their h/w will be certified by M$.

That logo perhaps means that its certified to run VISTA, but yes
agree, its difficult to interpret it that way.

Very true, vendors like Canonical, Novel and RedHat would need to tie
up with some h/w vendor officially and give it more visibility in the
market. But perhaps they are too busy either trying to fight amongst
themselve or trying to get more server space. They are not bothered
about desktop.
